Live long and prosper with these 7 steps

Modern medical technology, as amazing as it is, will never be able to save you from the difficulties that come from an unhealthy lifestyle. Rather than seek medical treatment for every ailment, consider living in a way that makes it unlikely for you to become ill.

It’s true that an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure. Here are seven suggestions for living a long and healthy life. As a bonus, keep in mind that such a  disease-preventing lifestyle also aids in weight loss.

1. Get enough physical activity.

In the old days, most people used their physical bodies in everyday labor. Now, we often wake up, drive to work, sit down, drive home, and then relax for the remainder of the day. There is little physical effort in modern life. Physical inactivity is one of the leading causes of a variety of illnesses. If our typical jobs do not push us physically, we must incorporate running, walking, and other strenuous activities into our lives. We are designed to be moving and active.

2. Go to bed when you’re tired.

Although this may appear to be a straightforward idea, many individuals remain awake later than they should, despite their bodies’ signals that it’s time to sleep. Yoga and Ayurvedic experts agree that sleeping at night and being active during the day is ideal. Students and late shift employees, on the other hand, tend to use caffeine and other stimulants to keep going into the late hours. “Night owls” are happy to stay up at night and sleep throughout the day. While this can be done, it’s been proven to have a negative impact on health without proper rest. Research indicates that such a schedule can contribute to the development of cancer and other disorders.

3. Eat healthier when you’re hungry.

This is a basic human requirement, yet we frequently ignore our body’s obvious warnings. You can’t digest your food effectively if you snack heavily at unusual hours or eat due to social pressure, even though you have no appetite. Acidity and indigestion set in, increasing the probability of additional and more complicated disorders developing. Being hungry is a sign of excellent health, but wait to eat if you’re not. If you don’t have an appetite after several hours, something may be amiss and you should see your doctor.

4. Consider a schedule for fasting.

If you ask someone to work 365 days a year without taking a break, they’ll likely grumble and declare that breaks are necessary to avoid disaster. Have you ever stopped to consider your digestive organs, which must operate nonstop every single day? They can’t complain to their supervisor the way a person can, but they do send us signs when they’re exhausted or neglected. Our system  deteriorates when we disregard those warnings and force them to keep going. Fasting for a day on a regular basis provides your digestive organs a break and aids in waste elimination. It also gives us a window to devote to academic or spiritual pursuits. Plus, eating is exhilarating afterwards!

5. Before going to bed, wash with cool water.

As stated in #2, sleep is necessary for good health. To calm and prepare you for a great night’s deep sleep, try rinsing important motor and sensory parts such as your hands, arms, eyes, legs, and mouth with cool water before bed. Instead of a morning shower, give evening showers a shot at bedtime.

6. Meditate on a regular basis.

Your mind and body are intertwined. Many of the disorders that afflict this generation are psychosomatic in nature. Our physical health suffers as a result of stress and worry. Meditation is a mental activity that helps you to distance yourself from life’s troubles and take control of your state of mind and regulate your oxygen intake by breathing methodically. Learn a technique that works for you and practice it on a regular basis. Meditation will improve your outlook and make you happier.

7. Get up at the same time every day.

Heading to bed early and waking early is an age-old adage that makes you “healthy, wealthy, and wise.” Work toward putting your body on a consistent schedule. The effort will pay off with better health, more success due to improved focus and intelligence, and a more steady approach to life’s problems. Tune your schedule so that you get just the right amount of sleep: not too little or too much.
